Dear Miss Smartypants,

So I made this New Year's resolution to start eating healthier or at least eat my own lunches instead of eating out so much. So far, I've done a pretty good job of keeping it up. Lately, I've been making salads. I've noticed that my olive oil dressing is leaving behind an oily residue in my containers even though I use hot water and grease fighting dish soap and everything. Is there anything else that I can do?

Tupperware Slick

Dear Slick,

Good for you for keeping up your resolution! There is something else you could do. Next time you go to wash your dishes, sprinkle a little baking soda in there and shake it around like you are dusting a cake pan. Let the dish sit for a minute or two (perhaps while you do some other dishes?), and then give it a wash. You should notice a decrease in oiliness right away, but you might need to repeat the baking soda process a couple of times to completely degrease. Also, if possible, try alternating a couple of dishes throughout the week to decrease the build up.

Squeaky clean,

Miss Smartypants
