At (Cult)ure we're in the business of producing written words, but that doesn't mean that we don't enjoy things like spoken words or words set to music or things that don't have words at all. So each week we'll bring you a small collection of non-written things that we enjoyed.

Best Podcast: Q, Daniel Radcliffe

Maybe it's a little obvious to talk about how charming and adorable Daniel Radcliffe is (except that, honestly,  Inside the Actor's Studio is the only other interview of his I have ever seen/heard), but I declare that you have a flinty heart if you don't smile at his aspiration to one day dig up bits of flint in Surrey. 

Best Video, Canadian or otherwise: Sledding Crow in Russia

I'm not the type to be all, "Look at that cute animal doing cute things like cute animals do!" BUT I do love it when animals are smart, and crows are hella smart (they remember your evil face and teach it to new generations!). How can you not be charmed by this crow finding a tool and using it deliberately for fun? You can't, that's how, so take your flinty heart and fly away.

Best Music: The Horrible Crowes, "Crush"

I had every intention of checking out The Horrible Crowes when their debut album, Elsie, came out in September. After all, I love Brian Fallon's other band, The Gaslight Anthem, right down to my core, so why wouldn't I? But then I forgot. I finally got around to it in the last two weeks. So, how'd that work out for me? As one YouTube comment put it, "Someone hit me in the chest and kissed my forehead." I'm not even sure what that means (oh, YouTube commentators, you're all teen girls, right?), yet it sounds exactly right. Here's the first track that really grabbed a hold of me:

I've fallen in love with plenty of other tracks since ("Sugar," "Behold the Hurricane," and "Blood Loss," just to name a few), but I am a sucker for songs that turn into other songs (cf "Blue and Gold Print," my favourite track of Mates of State's excellent 2008 album, Re-Arrange Us).
