All Days Are Nights: Songs For Lulu
www.rufuswainwright.com
Dist: Universal Music Canada

Written by Rufus Wainwright, produced by Rufus (with Pierre Marchand on three songs) and mixed by Marchand, who produced Poses, this 12-track record is steeped in beauty. It is a hugely personal album for Rufus and deeply emotional, channeled through Rufus’ fingers, his voice and a piano. The album title All Days Are Nights: Songs For Lulu is both a reference to Shakespeare's Sonnet 43 and Rufus’ own concept of Lulu, which he describes as a "dark, brooding, dangerous woman that lives within all of us. Rufus admits that recording All Days Are Nights: Songs For Lulu was one of the most difficult things he has ever done. “After hiding behind a 70-piece orchestra with my opera you can blame everything on the tuba player. With this album, when the curtain is raised it’s me on my own,” says Rufus. Track Listing:

EASTON CORBIN
Easton Corbin
www.eastoncorbin.com
Dist: Universal Music Canada

The self titled debut album from Nashville newcomer Easton Corbin is one of the most anticipated country releases for 2010! He may be new to Nashville but his sound is so comfortable you’d swear he’s been around for years. Like his heroes George Strait and Keith Whitley, Easton is unapologetically country. His songs, while rooted in the present, call to mind simpler times when the back porch was where folks gathered to network. Steel guitars and fiddles are as much a part of his sound as his baritone drawl. "A Little More Country Than That" is the first single.Track Listing

THE JOHN HENRYS
White Linen
www.thejohnhenrys.com
Dist: Universal Music Canada

The John Henrys have a sound that is undefinable. They draw from a potpourri of influences and styles that blend into something that is part alt-country, part Americana, part jam band and part rock n roll. Compared to likes of Neil Young, The Band and Tom Petty, The John Henrys have developed a reputation for tight musicianship, original arrangements and well crafted song writing.
White Linen is the band’s third album and their first made with the luxury of a decent recording budget and support of an independent label – Canada’s Linus Entertainment. The band took their time, recording the album over 7 months, putting down 17 songs, paring it down to a tight eleven, sequencing the album as if the band were releasing it only on vinyl, with Side A reflecting the influence of the city, and side B’s songs reflecting stories from the country.

MINDY MCREADY

www.mindymccready.com

She performs the title track live on the final episode of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab in which everyone cries including Dr. Drew because of it’s heart-wrenching emotion, “It was the first time Dr. Drew has ever cried on the show,” says Mindy. The album includes updated versions of her biggest hits: “Guys Do It All The Time” and “Ten Thousand Angels” as well as Mindy’s version of Garth Brook’s “The Dance”.

RON CONTOUR (Moka Only) & FACTOR
Saffron
www.myspace.com/mokaonly
Dist: Fontana North

Who is Ron Contour? Is he Moka Only, a mainstay of the Canadian hip-hop scene? Is he even Canadian? We can’t be entirely sure, but what we do know is that Ron enjoys some of the finer things in life (food, women, vintage clothing) and his latest and greatest collaboration with Saskatoon-based producer Factor is the perfect introduction to his world of debauchery and snacking. Saffron is an eccentric but devilishly satisfying record that presents a relaxed and vibey record that is impossible not to indulge in.

ship. Track Listing:

HURON
Huron
www.huronmusic.ca
Dist: Fontana North

Cam Malcolm, Aaron Godstein, Adam Melnick and Peter Hall are four gentlemen from Hamilton who are serious music-makers. Each one has an extensive and impressive musical resume, including credits on albums by Ian Blurton and Junior Boys, performances with the CowboyJunkies and the Arkells, and an ex-member of indie rockers A Northern Chorus. Huron’s debut album was recorded in Hamilton, Ontario with renowned indie producer Ian Blurton. In the spirit of rock 'n’ roll, they recorded live off the floor: Pete (drums) and Adam (bass) hold down the rhythm section, while Cam (guitar), and Aaron (guitar, through as many big amps as possible) co-front the unit. Cam's "King and Country" is reminiscent of a heavier version of the Beatles' "Two of Us". Aaron's "Chicken Wing" is Cold Roses-era Ryan Adams. "The War Between" could stand up to any 90's shoe-gaze classic.
Track Listing:

BETTIE SERVEERT
Pharmacy Of Love
www.bettieserveert.com
Dist: Fontana North

Formed in 1990 in Amsterdam, Bettie Serveert quickly climbed to the top of the indie underground with their debut record Palomine which highlighted Carol van Dyk's seductive voice and Peter Visser’s emotional guitar playing. The band's bittersweet melodies and their unique and unmistakable heavy sweet guitar led the debut record all the way to Gold status in the Netherlands while their second album Lamprey was hailed by Melody Maker as the most tangled, desolate, real life guitar sound of the year.

Their latest disc Pharmacy of Love captures the Betties raw, contagious energy that people have come to know from their live show. From the urgent “Deny All” to the anguished album closer, “What They Call Love,” Pharmacy of Love is a masterful collection of songs that are by turns raucous, shimmering and shiver inducing as they examine the vagaries of life and love. Facing down their demons and navigating love’s often-treacherous terrain, this is a band that, after 18 years and nine albums, has not mellowed with age.
TRACK LISTING:

SHE & HIM
Volume 2
www.sheandhim.com
Dist: F.A.B.

SHE & HIM are actress Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward who return to our ears with their new album Volume Two. This time, the harmonies have grown more angelically layered, the string arrangements more dramatic, the songwriting even sharper and more confident, but as with 2008's Volume One, the prevailing mood is bittersweet, dreamy, and romantic. What began as a fascinating, no-strings-attached collaboration on Volume One has evolved into a bona fide touring band, and She & Him are here to stay.

THE RUNAWAYS
Music From The Motion Picture
www.runawaysthesoundtrack.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada

Los Angeles 1975, Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning), two teenage valley girls with punk in their blood, meet and become the heart and soul of the seminal all girl band, The Runaways. Floria Sigismondi brings The Runaways to the big screen in this story of a group of extraordinary young women as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary band that paved the way for future generations of girl musicians. Under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon), the group evolves into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself-and so do its two leads: Joan is the band's pure rock' n' roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.

The Soundtrack features classic music from The Runaways, plus Runaways songs performed by Dakota Fanning & Kristen Stewart. Also, music from Joan Jett, David Bowie, The Stooges, MC5 and more.
TRACK LISTING:

BRAD MEHLDAU
Highway Rider
www.bradmehldau.com
Dist: Warner Music Canada

Eight years ago, pianist-composer Brad Mehldau and Los Angeles-based producer Jon Brion (Dido, Kanye West, Fiona Apple, Rufus Wainwright) collaborated on the groundbreaking Largo album. They mixed Mehldau originals with radically reinterpreted versions of pieces by Radiohead, the Beatles and Nick Drake and brought a range of new instrumentation to Mehldau's sound, including horns, strings, vibes and electronics. It was a provocative pairing: the young master of acoustic jazz and the subversive pop impresario with a Brian Wilson-sized imagination; Largo arguably set a new standard for the very idea of standards. Highway Rider reunites Mehldau with Brion in an even more ambitious setting and reflects Mehldau's recent experience writing long-form pieces, including the Carnegie Hall-commissioned Love Songs for mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter. TRACK LISTING.
