La Petite Mort Gallery presents...
FIVE DAY EXHIBIT
VINCE BEAUCHEMIN
NEW WORKS
FEBRUARY 25-MARCH 3, 2011
Vernissage: Friday February 25, 2011/ 7-10pm
Vince Beauchemin starts a dialogue with this new series and leaves the viewer to complete the circle of conversation. Through looking and feeling the emotions that he has subtly and sometimes outrightly invested in his works, the viewer layers new meaning accordingly, giving an exponential amount of variation for each work that Beauchemin paints.- Christina Anastassopoulos, 2011

Saturday

Rothwell Gallery’s next featured exhibition is of mixed media paintings “AROUND THE WORLD” by Bina Mirza – February 22 – March 5th.

Texture and colour are the principal elements emphasized throughout Bina’s work that enable her to make an otherwise flat surface come to life.  By exploring various textural components through collage she has been able to bring a depth to the canvas that is truly unique.
“Sculpture rather than painting” were words once spoken by Lawren Harris’ canvas “First Snow”, words that speak to the very essence of what she strives to capture.
MEET THE ARTIST FEBRUARY 26TH 2-4 PM.
Rothwell Gallery | 1718 Montreal Rd.

Sunday

February 27th – Gasland
(2010, dir Josh Fox, USA)
The largest natural gas drilling boom in history has swept the USA – and it's about to hit Québec – thanks to the Halliburton-developed drilling technology of hydraulic fracturing or "fracking." It may have unlocked a "Saudi Arabia of natural gas", but is this methodology safe? When filmmaker Josh Fox embarks on a cross-country odyssey of discovery, he uncovers a trail of secrets, lies and contamination. This exposé of a serious environmental threat gives new meaning to NIMBY. Shortlisted for an Oscar.
Café Molo (upstairs), 745 Riverside Dr., Wakefield (corner of River Road and Valley Drive). Sunday screenings 5 pm & 7:30 pm.
