The exhibition will present 12 artist’s response to the thaw, be it seasonal (March 20th is the first day of Spring), climactic (climate change and global warming), romantic (“I think he's warming up to me”) or perhaps cupcakes and pastries (where icing meets frosting). 951 Gladstone SundayOn Sunday, March 21 -the Vernal equinox - artist Cynthia O’Brien from Ottawa will map out the constellation of Virgo – the virginal hope for the future – with oversized clay fortune cookies. She’ll then go on to ‘sow’ the field with small edible fortune cookies – all to be left to dissolve with the snow and to ‘seed’ the field with hopes and fortunes for the future. The event will take place at fieldwork - the outdoor, ‘gallery’ located on a country road, in a field near Maberly that has become home to rotating seasonal art installations. This is fieldwork‘s spring offering. O’Brien’s performance will begin at 2pm at the site. All are welcome to help celebrate the arrival of fieldwork’s spring installation by joining us for this performance and the opening to follow. Soup and beverage will be served free of charge. Born and educated in Belgrade, Serbia, she received her Master of Arts degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Arts in Belgrade in 1991. She moved to Canada in 1993.Bozica has had several solo and numerous group exhibitions in Canada and abroad. Her work can be seen in various private collections and in the Museum of Modern Art in Belgrade. Her current work explores the relationship between belonging, integrity and identity. The installation continues until March 31.
