Job title: Gallery and Programming Assistant
Duration: 14 weeks
Language(s) of work: Bilingual (French and English)
Under the supervision of the Ottawa Art Gallery's (OAG) Public Programs Coordinator, the incumbent will assist with the development and delivery of educational programming of the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art, a collection of over1600 works from the late 1800's to early 1970's, and OAG's own Contemporary Collection which comprises of 205 works from contemporary Canadian artists with strong ties to the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
The Gallery and Programming Assistant will:
- Assist in the research and development of educational programming for
- exhibitions and public development;
- Assist in the delivery of public programs such as tours, talks, and youth
- workshops;
- Assist in ongoing development of membership;
- Carry out daily operations of OAG’s administration.
The qualifications that are sought are:
- Undergraduate degree in art history, cultural studies, or equivalent;
- Some knowledge of, and a demonstrated interest in, contemporary art;
- Excellent oral communication skills;
- Excellent research skills;
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite and Membership Database;
- Bilingual (French and English).

The original orientation session will introduce the candidate to the facility, Gallery staff, and tools and technologies they will need to be familiar with. This is an open and flexible session, tailored to the candidate’s specific needs. This is also the time when additional training - if required, will be assessed, discussed and arranged (whether job shadowing or additional hands-on training). In addition, bi-weekly staff meetings will ensure that all members of our team are kept abreast of collective priorities, as well as the specific projects of each department.

Job title: Marketing and Communications Assistant
Duration: 14 weeks
Language(s) of work: Bilingual (French and English)
Under the supervision of the Ottawa Art Gallery's (OAG) Marketing and Communications Manager, the incumbent will assist with the development and delivery of activities linked to the marketing and communications of the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art, a collection of over 1600 works from the late 1800's to early 1970's, and OAG's own Contemporary Collection which comprises of 205 works from contemporary Canadian artists with strong ties to the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
The qualifications that are sought are:
- Undertaking undergraduate degree in marketing or communications, journalism
- or related field;
- Some knowledge of, and a demonstrated interest in, contemporary art;
- Excellent research skills;
- Computer skills: The student must be very comfortable with using a computer.
- Basic graphic design (Photoshop or Illustrator) and knowledge of Microsoft
- Office Suite (Word, Excel). Willingness to learn new software, if required;
- Must be highly organized with ability to prioritize assignments ;
- Bilingual (French and English).
