CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Don't Forget
art exhibition and fundraiser
Organized by Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts & ARTemisia.
SEPTEMBER 24-26, 2010
Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts
310 St. Patrick Street, Ottawa ON, K1N 5K5
The purpose of this art exhibition is to support the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County through the exhibition and sale of original artworks that explore the theme of memory.
What is it like to experience nostalgia, or déjà-vu? Why do we remember some things better than others? Or, how are certain memories attached to sensory experience – the cologne of an ex-lover, the taste of a home-cooked meal, the sounds of a particular space or city. How is our identity defined by our memories of the past, and do we change if these events are forgotten? We invite you to interpret the theme of memory broadly and uniquely.
We are looking for works in a variety of affordable two and three-dimensional media that treat the theme in a lighthearted, insightful and creative way. This event will not be juried, however, we ask that all submitted works be
suitable and relevant.
As part of the fundraising effort, we will be asking artists to contribute a percentage of sales. Members of the public who come to the art show in September will be encouraged to make a voluntary donation.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd, 2010
